Forschungsring

The biodynamic impulse wants to prepare agriculture for the future: it is about cultivating the land in relation with nature for a sustainable co-evolution of humans and the environment. We feel committed to this principle and want to support it’s implementation with our work.

About us

Forschungsring has been founded in 1946 as a successor organization of the Experimental Circle of Anthroposophic Farmers that has been launched even during the Agricultural Course that Rudolf Steiner gave in Koberwitz (today Kobierzice, Poland) in 1924. In the early years, Forschungsring has been the umbrella organization of the Biodynamic movement in Central Europe. Today, we are one of very few scientific research institutes with a focus on biodynamic food and farming world-wide.

Rooted in the Biodynamic movement, we are members of the Biodynamic Federation – Demeter International as well as of the International Biodynamic Association (IBDA) and collaborate closely both with the German Demeter association and the Section for Agriculture at the Goetheanum in Dornach. To connect also with the organic movement, we are members of the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) and of the European TP Organics platform.

Our aims

We are part of the world-wide Biodynamic community and want to support the movement with research. To do so, we explore biodynamic agriculture scientifically with a wide range of methods, including transdisciplinary and participatory research. We acknowledge the value of Anthroposophy as a distinct knowledge system and strive to explore its potential in holistic research.

Moreover, we are also part of the global organic farming movement. On that level, we engage in research initiatives and joint projects for a sustainable transformation of farming and food systems. We have large network of partners in practice and science and are working together with universities and organizations from the organic farming sector.

What we offer

base

We provide advice in all our fields of expertise, e.g. the farm organism, the Biodynamic preparations, Picture Forming Methods, transdisciplinary participatory research and more.

base

Picture Forming Methods are a smart approach to analyse soil, fertilizer, plant and food samples on a more holistic physiological level.

base

This method takes the sensory analyses to the next level and analyses the impact of food products on the human body. The method can be applied both on raw and processed food products and provides information on food quality and its interaction with factors in agricultural production and processing.

base

We develop research projects for the biodynamic movement and Demeter Germany in particular. Further, we facilitate and support Biodynamic research initiatives world-wide. Together with the Goetheanum Section for Agriculture and BFDI we run the International Biodynamic Research Network to build up a global research community.

Preparations for Biodynamic Agriculture

We produce and sell the Biodynamic preparations and a dispenser for the tractor. Further, we sell equipment for prep making on farms.
